David Dorrell has more than 50 years
experience in painting. He, his
lovely wife Diane and their two dogs are lifelong residents of New Jersey.
Dorrell’s artwork is a fusion of
representational and expressionist styles.
He enjoys using classical painting techniques to produce paintings
infused with energetic color and brushwork, expressive light, and yet often
contrasted with calm balanced compositions.
David Dorrell began painting at age 11
under the instruction of his grandfather, Ernest Dorrell (PA Academy trained artist)

Retiring from his career in engineering
in November 2023 allowed him more time to devote to his art career. Since retiring
he has had a solo exhibition at Gallery 50, Inc. in NJ, won more than 17 state, regional,
and local awards, was accepted as one of 20 participants in a juried national
plein air event in VA, and has had two paintings accepted to an international juried
exhibition.
